Who says that an edgy red lip clashes with your virtuous beauty routine? Not Leah Kirpalani, whose new Shop Good curates the most stylish of natural beauty products.

“My grandmother would never leave the house without a swipe of bright-red lipstick,” Leah Kirpalani says. “I now start my day with a bright, bold pout! This red lip has become a signature icon for the shop.”

Kirpalani is referring to Shop Good, her brick-and-mortar temple to holistic makeup that just opened in North Park after two years of operating solely as an e-commerce store fueled by her 14,000 Instagram followers. But this isn’t the natural beauty of yore—all patchouli oil, Tibetan prayer flags and unlabeled tinctures.

Shop Good’s look is minimalist, modern and impossibly chic, with white walls, black accents, green plants and a suite of highly styled all-natural products that will make even the most product-averse person curious.

“The heart of the brand is my own personal health journey,” Kirpalani explains. While battling a chronic illness and receiving discouraging and misleading medical advice, she turned to natural products and noticed a shift.

She also recognized a need for healthier products that actually work. “Our skin absorbs up to 65 percent of what we place on our bodies,” she says, “and the FDA does not regulate the ingredients that go into our washes, balms, lipsticks or lotions. There are now natural products on the market that are both free of harmful ingredients and downright effective.”

Today, Kirpalani is thriving in every sense, something she shares with her community. “It thrills me,” she says, “that people are this excited and motivated about learning ways to clean up their beauty and skincare routines.”
