Vibrant decor, cuisine and libations awaited guests at the 72nd Viva la Vida Jewel Ball.
THE PARTY San Diegans descended upon a festively decorated La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club for a night of celebration and fundraising at the annual Viva la Vida Jewel Ball. Named in honor of artist Frida Kahlo’s last art piece, “Viva la Vida” (Live the Life), that’s exactly what the night inspired. THE GUESTS Marcus and Cristina Heliker and Lorraine and Ryan Esgate were among VIP guests enjoying the vibrant evening. THE SCENE Mojigangas (giant dancing puppets), festive artwork and a mariachi band set a picturesque Mexico City-inspired backdrop as guests were greeted with passed hors d’oeurves of shrimp and whitefish aguachile and beef picadillo empanadas, which paired nicely with the evening’s signature drink, the TitoRia, sponsored by Tito’s Handmade Vodka. A fiesta, indeed! -Claire Harper
