After observing a growing sense of divisiveness stemming from the aftermath of the 2016 United States presidential election, Cheryl Najafi was inspired to make a change. “If I don’t step up and draw a line in the sand and say this is not OK, then I’m implicit,” she reflects.
Hence, Love Over H8 was born. The ethical online clothing retailer is one with a mission—give back to charities who care, and be the change you wish to see in the world.
By using highly vetted ethical manufacturers to make Love Over H8’s garments, the brand is changing the world, one high-quality outfit at a time. In fact, $10 from every purchase goes to the cause of your choice.
The clothing ranges from empowering, message-driven tees to silk dresses and cashmere—the causes support organizations that promote tolerance, humanitarianism and social justice. Charities change quarterly, but the mission stays the same. “We make sure we pair up with charities that have tremendous impact on the people they touch,” Najafi says.
In the beginning stages of Love Over H8, Najafi focused on understanding clothing manufacturing and e-commerce from the ground up. “I really wanted to understand the fashion industry well first—build the plane and then try to fly it, essentially,” she says.
Her experience as CEO of lifestyle media company Everyday Dishes & DIY prepared her well for the rest—making her the perfect voice to champion for change.
Although Love Over H8 supports a lot of causes, at the end of the day, the most important one is in the name. “The clothes are a medium of getting people together and wearing their truth—saying there is still love inside.”
