Flights Los Gatos Takes Off

Meatballs included.

At Flights Los Gatos, the ahi tuna, $19, is served seared and poke-style.

Hult’s is gone, but its beloved Swedish meatballs live on—only in triplicate and with companions. Following the success of his Flights restaurant in Campbell, where the dishes and drinks are served in threes, Alexander Hult shuttered his eponymous fine-dining spot and recently relaunched it as Flights Los Gatos.

“I always wanted a neighborhood place in Los Gatos where people could share fun cocktails and great food,” says Hult of the trio concept. “Our Campbell location proved that Flights is for everyone: It’s great for families, a fun date night, a sweet spot for girls’ night out or for the boys to catch a game.”

Begin with margaritas—in mango-jalapeno, pineapple-passionfruit and classic—enjoyed alongside succulent shrimp: garlic grilled on a skewer, in a glass with classic cocktail sauce and phyllo-wrapped. Fully loaded skillets of pizza piled high with barbecue chicken, brisket and meatballs land on the table with a thud of authority. The meatballs are also available on their own, topped with Swedish lingonberries, Italian marinara and pineapple teriyaki. Brunch delivers a triple threat of Swedish pancakes stuffed with blueberry, strawberry and banana Nutella, as well as popular chicken and waffles topped with mango-habanero, barbecue and sausage gravy with maple syrup. Adding to the playful vibe here, day or night: the throwback flight attendant uniforms that the servers sport.
