It was a shoe soiree of global proportions during the Manolo Blahnik Collection Party at the Czech Embassy.
THE PARTY If the shoe fits, wear it—particularly if it’s by Manolo Blahnik. (Who could resist?) The luxe label showed off its exquisite footwear at the Czech Embassy during an affair that also marked 100 years of nationhood for the country—the home of the designer’s father. THE PEOPLE Ambassador Hynek Kmoníček and wife Indira Gumarova—so chic in her sparkles—opened their doors to Washington’s well-heeled set, power dressers and international representatives for an evening of cultural indulgence and style. Among the attendees were Jan Du Plain (in glowing red), Joe Ruzzo, Mark Lowham and Dana Swift. BEST IN SHOW There were plenty of treats: gourmet candy shoes in an array of colors, popcorn boxes bearing Blahnik’s name, sneak peeks at the latest looks (perfect for the next affair on our schedules) and a screening of the documentary, Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes for Lizards. The film showcases the life of the couture cobbler—a fitting homage for such a fete.
