THE PARTY Known for being a non-profit with a cutting-edge aesthetic, Transformer held their 13th Annual Transformer Silent Auction and Benefit Party at American University’s Katzen Arts Center. The high energy crowd danced to 80’s alternative and 70’s disco beats while surrounded by over 175 pieces art. Guests munched on Italian inspired bites by Occasions Catering while Centrolina and Paisley Fig sweetened the deal with mouthwatering desserts. This must attend event was an artistic success.
THE PEOPLE The Transformer event curated one of the most creative guest lists in the city. Over 700 artists, collectors, gallerists, entrepreneurs, and art enthusiasts attended the sold out event. Special guests included Miss District of Columbia and Eric Eden, owner of local boutique, Hu’s Shoes, who were in attendance. The Ambassador of Italy, Armando Varricchio, and Mrs. Varricchio were the evening’s Auction Chairs in light of the 2016 cultural exchange programs with Italy.
BEST IN SHOW The auction, of course! Over 150 artworks from emerging and established artists were auctioned to support Transformer’s exhibitions and educational programming. The auction included an Italian flair with more than 25 contemporary artworks by Italian artists. The auction is supported by a variety of DC community and business leaders. Supporters were able to purchase DC’s best contemporary visual art.
