DC’s top athletes traded their uniforms for sleek styles to Walk This Way for Becky’s Fund.
THE PARTY A who’s-who list of the District’s top athletes strolled into Uline Arena for the 10th annual Walk This Way bash benefiting Becky’s Fund, an organization that works to end domestic violence. THE PEOPLE Football, soccer, basketball and baseball stars stepped onto the runway in chic looks by Stitched and d/eleven, and jewels by Mindy Lam. Among them: the Redskins’ Josh Norman, DC United’s Bill Hamid and the Mystics’ Tierra Ruffin-Pratt. Taking it all in were nonprofit founder Becky Lee and emcees Noor Tagouri, an activist and journalist, and Adrianna Hopkins, a WJLA anchor. THE HIGHLIGHTS After the talents took their turn on the catwalk, they savored food and drinks from the likes of ChiKo’s Scott Drewno and Peacock Cafe’s Maziar Farivar. It all brought in $150,000 for Men of Code, a program that educates coaches and young male athletes to be leaders in the domestic violence movement—this year’s funds ensure the service will be offered at three new schools next year. -Faye Hadley
