THE PARTY It’s a girls night out! The 12th Annual Women & Wine, held at The Ritz-Carlton in Tysons Corner this year, was a night of celebration, education, fundraising and, of course, lots of entertainment and wine for over 650 of the top female executives in the Washington, DC area. The event benefited Georgetown Lombardi’s Nina Hyde Center for Breast Cancer Research. Guests delighted in an evening of divine cocktails, exceptional cuisine and desserts. The amusement of the evening? 50 “wine dudes,” the only men in attendance, served up the wine to the ladies while collecting gratuities to benefit the evening’s proceeds.
THE PEOPLE Leading professionals Claudine Isaacs and Shawna Willey from Georgetown Lombardi spoke about breast cancer and the incredible work and research the center is doing. Greta Kreuz from ABC7 and WJLA-TV was featured at the dinner celebration as a celebrity honoree chair. And Susan Miller was presented with the Spirit of Life Award.
BEST IN SHOW Prizes galore! Raffle players had a chance to win a Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch, one made for a lucky gent and one for a fortunate gal. There was also a silent auction, gifts including an afternoon of sailing and cocktails at the Annapolis Yacht Club, a Seven Springs Resort Package and a lunch with Washington Business Journal Publisher James MacGregor. The evening raised a record $562,000 - we’ll do a wine cheers to that!
